Aims The project’s aim is to provide support and advice to those harder to reach members of the community. We aim to support them to deal with a system which can often be bureaucratic and bewildering, and give them the confidence to better meet their needs and fulfil their potential.
What are we doing? The drop-in project runs alongside the ‘Urban Table’, a soup kitchen which runs on Sunday afternoons and provides a free meal to anyone who wants to attend. These guests now have the chance to talk to volunteers at the drop-in project too: they can come anytime between 2.30-4.30pm on Sundays to the Round Chapel Old School Rooms about issues they may be facing including housing, benefits and looking for work.
The Drop-in Coordinator will work directly with a team of volunteers to provide support and advocacy to service users of the weekly Sunday afternoon Drop-in and will manage the volunteer rotas and task list. The role will involve further developing the project as well as mapping and collating a signpost list of services in North and East London. The role will also include liaising and maintaining links with various organisation, institutions, and services to follow up ongoing casework on behalf of service users. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Coordinator to help shape the future of the service.
