Bump Buddies - Shoreditch Trust

Bump Buddies brings Hackney women together to support one another through times of change. We harness the compassion, strength and energy of individuals to ensure that we are all able to reach our full potential.

Bump Buddies services connect diverse groups of women in Hackney so they are able to share their skills, knowledge and experiences, and learn from one another.

There are a number of areas of the programme, allowing us to achieve our goal of providing support to women who need it:

• Bump Buddies mentoring – We facilitate a 1:1 peer mentoring scheme for women who require additional support during pregnancy and early parenthood

• Bump Buddies information – We have access to a wide range of specialist information, and can point you in the right direction if you are seeking more knowledge about local and national services available

• Bump Buddies influence – We enable women to use their lived experience to influence policy and commissioning, through steering groups, focus groups, and presence on boards and committees

We have appointments at the Hackney Service Centre, 1 Hillman Street, London, E8 1DY on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

For an appointment or to book a call-back, speak to a receptionist at the Service Centre Monday to Friday from 9:30am. Members of our team are at the Service Centre on Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:30am and 1:00pm to provide information and assistance.

For parents with children aged 5 or younger, you can book an appointment with an adviser through your Children’s Centre.

DeafPLUS

deafPLUS provides Information, Advice and Advocacy Services to Deaf, hard of hearing and visually impaired people. In addition, we provide Employment support to our client group by providing Information, Advice and Guidance.

Family Mosaic (Shoreditch Floating Support)

Family Mosaic’s TPS service is a free to use housing related support service covering the Haggerston, Hoxton and Shoreditch areas. We promote independence, health and wellbeing and support people to live safely in their own home, to be socially included and prevent homelessness.

Greenhouse Centre

The Greenhouse Centre provides free health care services and housing and welfare advice for homeless people in Hackney.

Hackney Adult Learning Services - Functional English And Maths

Do you want to improve your reading, writing or maths skills?

Our Functional English and maths courses will help you become more confident about English and maths in everyday life. You can also take qualifications that can help you find a job, including GCSEs.

Classes are FREE and run all over Hackney.

To join a class, please come to an advice and assessment session. An adviser will check your level of English or maths and help you to find a class.

London Gypsy And Traveller Unit

The Accommodation and Advocacy Service is held at the London Gypsy and Traveller Unit's offices on a Monday and a Friday. It provides advice to Gypsy and Traveller families living in houses, on official sites and unauthorised encampments mostly in North East London boroughs. It support Travellers in gaining skills and confidence which will make them more effective when dealing with services. Off Centre

Off Centre is a counselling, therapy, advice, guidance and psychosocial service for young people aged between 11-25 who live, work or study in Hackney. One Support

Our service is open to the people living in the boundaries of Hackney and are living either with family or friends, permanent accommodation weather that is private rented, home owners, housing association or council accommodation.

We particularly assist people who are vulnerable and suffer with:

• severe social isolation
• on the verge of a crisis
• frailty caused by age
• mild Mental health needs
• non-complex learning or physical disabilities
• long term health needs
• People with mild substance misuse issues.

All service user groups and ages from 18+ are welcome to make a referral or call us to query if you think you may benefit from some support.
